Magazine cover conventions = Title of publication, Slogan, Central Image, Free offer , Colour Scheme.

Q3
Reveal
  • The use of the numerous images as oppose to one, central image suggests that the magazine offers a great deal of content and is good value for money.
  • The quotes from reality television stars use controversy ('sex' and 'jail' and 'stalker') to hint at the exciting stories inside.
Tatler
  • The use of Serif font for the title gives the word 'Tatler' a more regal formal and sophisticated appearance which reinforces the magazine's brand identity as upper class and associated with style and elegance.
  • The magazine uses a strong, central image with the face in the visual centre of the cover to draw the reader's eye .The image uses a model making direct eye contact with the reader which gives them a connection. The hair-style is messy which could connote a night out, or be used to make the model more edgy which links to the idea of 'new posh' and '21 century'.Her costume includes pearls and jewellery which connotes wealth and luxury and status. This is complemented by the gold brocade of her outfit which is reminiscent of royalty.

Q5

Nicola Adams-Female boxer and Olympic medal winner ; Female Boxer
Kanya King - CEO of MOBO ; Black and female
Ade Adepitan -Wheel chair basketball player and TV presenter ; A disabled athlete

Q6 redraft

Representation of women in 1950s was limited to being housewives and needing the help/support of men. Also represented as people who enjoy housework such as cleaning and cooking. They are often represented as not being very good and needing help of men and products to get the job done.OMO advert anchorage text is extremely patronising. This is because it treats females like children with repetition and use of italics and exclamation marks. OMO repeating 'bright ' and 'white' reinforces the stereotype of women being pure and innocent.

In the Galaxy advert,Propp's theory is involved as Audrey is portrayed as the 'heroine' in need of saving by a man. However her role changes when she takes the bus drivers hat and gives it to the driver in the car in which she uses him as a personal driver. This representation of women taking control is more reflective of modern representation of women and is extremely different to the OMO advert

NHS Represent advert highlights how the representation of women has changed, this is because it is led by a strong black female performer and also there are black and Asian women are shown boxing, leading companies , in the science lab .They are represented as independent and more physically and mentally stronger.
