TATLER AND REVEAL CSP LR'S

LR:

WWW: Two solid case studies here – you show a clear understanding of the magazine exam texts and the way they target audiences. You cover magazine key conventions effectively and show an understanding of trickier topics such as social class. Well done!

EBI: The key area to work on is social/cultural context. For example, in your Reveal case study you say:

1)Features of British life that are represented are that most mums act very posh

While this is addressed by one of the cover lines, I wouldn’t say it’s a feature of British life. Here you need to discuss motherhood, diets, celebrity gossip etc. – generally aspects that interest a predominantly working class audience. Similarly, on your Tatler case study this section is weaker and it could easily come up in the exam. Finally, a lot of your answers are quite short – often only one sentence. Sometimes that will be absolutely fine but in places you need to add depth and detail to your analysis in order to reach the higher grades.

LR: Go back to the social/cultural context sections for each case study and add to or edit your answers.
