General


1) The type of people who read Reveal are mainly working class women (ABC1-C2DEwho are roughly between the ages of 18 to 34.

2)The editor introduces Reveal magazine as a very gossip based magazine and also like a friend because the cover lines are informal so the readers can relate and feel as if the magazine is speaking to them .

3) The Target audience for Tatler is mainly ABC1 however the readers of Reveal are around C1 , C2 or D.

4)The issues Reveal readers are interested in are gossip,fashion, Diets, relationships and Motherhood.

Media Language

1)10 magazine cover key conventions are featured on this edition of Reveal which are: Title of publication , Central image, Cover Lines,Free offer,colour scheme, name checks, Language , Direct Address & Asking Questions , Bar code/Date/price , The 'Real' Target Audience.


2)The font choice used is Sans serif.This connotes that it is made for a more younger audience and that the news/gossip presented in Reveal is more 21st century things.

3)The cover lines appeal to the Reveal target audience because it is a bright yellow colour. This contrasts with the darker background making it very visible for the audience.

4)The use of the colours like pink , red and yellow shows that it is made for humour.

5)The actors aren't prepared for the photo which suggests it was the paparazzi that had taken the photos.This creates interest because this highlights how they act outside , when there are no cameras filming them.Their is makeup on most of the women which interest men as they find them attractive.The facial expression of the women on the bottom left interests the reader as she looked shocked or worried therefore they would want to find out why.

6)A more bold and serif font is used to show that Tatler is mainly for upper class workers however Reveal has a sans serif slanted font to try and get the readers attention.

Representations


1)The groups of people represented are women who do diets, mothers , men but only with their female significant other.

2)There are mainly celebrities that appear on reality TV shows and other actors represented..

3)One stereotype is that celebrities are always at the centre of attention. Another stereotype that is reinforced is that women enjoy eating a lot of junk food.

4)Celebrities are presented as important and desirable - but the photography is designed to make them look like 'normal' people.

5)The preferred reading to this is that actors aren't the same in real life and that they act completely different when they are not being filmed. An oppositional reading to this is that women might get offended by the fact that they are telling them to gain carbs instead of loose them. This is because nowadays being skinny is more attractive therefore they might think they are trying to make them overweight.

Social and cultural context

1)Features of British life that are represented are that most mums act very posh and that people in Britain struggle with their diets.

2)The life of readers that read Reveal are different because Tatler was made for Upper class and Upper middle workers however the audience for Reveal are for working class.

3) An issue that frequently appears on Reveal is Drama about how a celebrities relationship isn't going that smoothly.Another feature is that there is always a label saying there is a free product to make someone look better.

4) Cheryl Cole appears in Reveal magazine because the audience feel like they can relate to them because they might also be going through relationship issues therefore they can use her as an inspiration to get over it.
